Annie C Maguire Shipwrecked Here 1886

soft pastels

On Christmas Eve 1886, the Annie C. Maguire shipwrecked just 100 feet from Maine’s Portland Head Lighthouse during a storm.

Lighthouse keeper Joshua Strout and his family heroically rescued all 18 crew members, offering them warmth, food, and safety.

The ship’s remains were later destroyed by another storm, but the memory lives on with an inscription at the site.

Artist Jackie Hanson captured the historic site, including the iconic inscription commemorating the wreck, in this detailed and showstopping 4-panel panorama.
