Al Burgun
Meredith, NH & Hernando, FL
With over 40 years of experience, Al's journey into woodturning began in high school, where he learned the basics in a woodshop class. His passion grew into a serious hobby, and after retiring in 2002, he refined his craft through advanced training at the "Hands on Woodturners" club in Beverly Hills, FL, and by attending the Florida State Woodturners symposium.
Al is a woodturner and sculptor specializing in Wood, Soapstone, and other mediums. Segmented woodturning adds complexity and precision to his pieces, allowing for a mix of wood colors and types that result in visually striking and functional household items.
I create one-of-a-kind geometric shapes that are both artistic and functional, emphasizing the natural beauty of wood. My work is characterized by an evolving process where the character of the wood often guides the final shape.
