Windswept is a carved maple slab that depicts waves emanating from two points of origin, dyed in shades of blue and green to evoke the essence of water. Enhanced with backlighting, the sculpture transforms with light and perspective, creating a dynamic visual experience.

Inspired by my time sailing in the Lakes Region, this piece replicates the subtle textures of wind moving across the water. The small curves and dimples mimic the effect of a moderate breeze, reflecting light in ways that bring the sculpture to life. Viewed straight on, Windswept offers an intriguing abstraction, while an oblique angle reveals a more familiar, bird’s-eye view of waves, offering a fresh perspective on this natural phenomenon.
